UM Martha Cook Dance Series

AACTMAD presents a year-long series of monthly dances for the residents of Martha Cook and their invited guests. The series includes dances from many cultures with an emphasis on English country and American contra dances. In addition, a series of "Martha Cook Dance Nights Out" offers the residents and their invited guests an opportunity to participate in local Ann Arbor events.

Unless otherwise noted, events take place on the 2nd Thursdays from 7:30-9:00pm, in the lounge at Martha Cook Hall, and are open to the residents of Martha Cook and their invited guests.

Martha Cook - Dance Night Out (every Tuesday)
Come join us any Tuesday night for English country dancing! Limo service from/to Martha Cook (pickup at 6:30pm - return by 9:50pm). $4 each; invite your friends. .

Aug. 29	Welcome Week - English country dance for the incoming class. Ray Bantle leads to music by Brad Battey and Debbie Jackson.
Sep. 13	Bronwen Gates, Greg Meisner, and Ray Bantle call English country and contra dances. Swing demo by Jeff Klein and Austin York (from the Ann Arbor Swing Dance Association). Music by Brad Battey and Debbie Jackson.
Saturday Sep. 29	Martha Cook - Dance Night Out English country dance at 7pm followed by contra dancing at 8:30pm. Music by Dr. Grangelove (Brad Battey, Dave Orlin, and Debbie Jackson) with special guest musician, Kendall Rogers (from Houston, TX) at the Pittsfield Grange Hall. Scrumptious refreshments during the breaks. Bring clean-soled shoes, water, and your friends! $6 each. Limo service from/to Martha Cook (pickup at 6:30pm). by Sep 28.
Oct. 11	Bronwen Gates and Drake Meadow lead dances from America, Bulgaria, England, Greece, and Israel. Music by Brad Battey, Debbie Jackson, and Ralph Katz.
Nov. 8	Greg Meisner and Ray Bantle lead English country and contra dances to music by Brad Battey and Debbie Jackson. Demonstration by the Ann Arbor Morris Team.
Saturday Nov. 17	Martha Cook - Dance Night Out International Folk Dancing. Balkan, Middle Eastern, & European dances to music by The Ethnic Connection. 8-11pm, in Northeast Ann Arbor. Refreshments during the break. Bring your friends! $7 each. Limo service from/to Martha Cook (pickup at 7:30pm). by Nov 16.
Jan. 10	Bronwen Gates and Greg Meisner lead English country and contra dances to music by Brad Battey and Debbie Jackson. Scandinavian demo by John Lesko and Suzanne Schluederberg. Nyckelharpa by Brad Battey.
Feb. 14	Valentines Gala - bring a guest! Ray Bantle leads English country dances to music by Brad Battey and Debbie Jackson.
Mar. 27	Drake Meadow, Greg Meisner, and Ray Bantle lead contra and English country dances. Music by Brad Battey and Debbie Jackson.
